"This article compares average hourly earnings in private for-profit hospitals to those in private nonprofit hospitals. It then compares those rates to the rates in State and local government hospitals, which by definition are nonprofit. The comparisons include average hourly rates for all workers, full-time workers, part-time workers, registered nurses, and licensed practical nurses. Next, the article compares average hourly rates in State and local government colleges and universities to those in private nonprofit colleges and universities.
